PANG Signals Growth Initiative as Turkana DTT Pilot Unveils New Broadcasting Horizon

The Pan African Network Group (PANG) is leading the implementation of a Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Pilot Project in Kakuma Ward, Turkana County, aiming to enhance digital inclusion and broaden Kenya’s broadcasting infrastructure reach.
The initiative, financed by the Universal Service Fund (USF) and supervised by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), aims at underserved areas where the growth of commercial broadcasting has been restricted due to expensive infrastructure.
Last week, county officials organized a stakeholder engagement event that united national government administrators, education officials, local leaders, and community representatives to talk about the project’s implementation framework and possible economic effects.
During the event, Tamima Ibrahim, General Manager of Pan African Network Group (PANG), stated that the pilot signifies a strategic achievement in expanding broadcast signal distribution to emerging markets.
“Investing in infrastructure in neglected areas such as Turkana generates lasting benefits for the whole broadcasting framework.” “By extending signal reach, we are establishing a foundation for enhanced content availability, advertising expansion, and wider engagement in the digital economy,” stated Tamima.
She mentioned that in addition to enhancing access to free-to-air television, the initiative aims to boost local economic activity by facilitating information dissemination, improving education access, and increasing connectivity.
She remarked that when operational, the DTT pilot is expected to offer residents access to more than 500 television and radio broadcasting services, greatly improving access to news, educational resources, government communications, and public service programming.
