LG’s Wallpaper Pushes Tv Design to Its Thinnest Extreme

LG Electronics (LG) is drawing renewed attention to one of its boldest design achievements yet: the OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV, a display so thin it fundamentally changes how televisions exist within the home.

At just 9.95 millimeters thick[i], the Wallpaper TV abandons the traditional idea of the television as a large, dominant object.

Mounted flush against the wall, it resembles a framed digital canvas more than a conventional screen, blending quietly into the surrounding space.

According to LG, achieving this level of thinness required engineers and designers to rethink nearly every internal component from scratch.

“When you push thinness to its limits, nothing can be treated independently anymore,” said KM Ahn. “Structure, power, heat, and sound become deeply interconnected.”

Rather than designing the exterior first and fitting technology behind it, LG approached the Wallpaper TV as a complete system challenge, where every millimeter mattered.

The company redesigned the power board to integrate heat management directly into its structure, removing the need for additional bulky cooling systems. The speakers were also re-engineered to deliver 4.2-channel, 60-watt sound despite the ultra-thin enclosure, while layered aluminum sheets within the frame provide rigidity without adding noticeable weight or thickness.

This resulted in a television that appears almost impossibly slim while still delivering the performance expected from a premium OLED display.

Flush wall integration became another central focus of the design. LG developed a specialized folding bracket system that allows the panel to sit tightly against the wall, eliminating the visual gaps commonly associated with mounted televisions.

The company further minimized the cable setup through its Zero Connect Box technology, which enables True Wireless transmission of video and audio signals between connected devices and the display, helping preserve the television’s clean, minimalist appearance.

Beyond its industrial design, the OLED evo W6 continues LG’s emphasis on picture quality, powered by the α11 AI Processor Gen 3. Supported by an NPU 5.6 times more powerful than its predecessor, this processor upgrades color processing from 10‑bit to 12‑bit, enhancing brightness, contrast, and color precision.

The screen is up to 3.9 times[iv]brighter than conventional OLED models, while Reflection Free Premium technology helps deliver enhanced color expression and the perfect black OLED is renowned for, even in bright lighting.

The Wallpaper TV has already received major international recognition, including both the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award Best of the Best distinction, as well as TÜV Rheinland’s True Wireless Lossless Vision certification.
