Twiva, a Kenyan social commerce platform, has been awarded the Social Commerce Award at the 7th Annual International Pacesetters Awards in Nairobi.
The event, held at the Argyle Grand Hotel, recognizes companies demonstrating excellence across various industries globally. Twiva, which uses influencers and AI to drive social commerce, stood out despite facing competition from other platforms worldwide.
This marks the fourth award for Twiva this year. The platform had previously been recognized with the Best Social Commerce Award for the Middle East and Africa during the Middle East & Africa Business Awards.
Twiva’s CEO and Co-founder, Peter N. Kironji, noted that the company is focused on revolutionizing Africa’s retail sector by providing digital market access for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The platform, which connects businesses with influencers who market and sell their products, currently boasts over 11,000 influencers and 2,500 businesses.
A report by Dalberg, a global advisory firm, has shown a shift in Kenya’s retail market, with more consumers preferring platforms that facilitate direct interaction between businesses and buyers, a trend that Twiva has successfully tapped into. With only 13% of Kenyans currently using e-commerce platforms, there is significant room for growth in the social commerce sector.
Twiva offers a variety of products, ranging from electronics to fashion and health products, allowing brands to reach customers more effectively. The company has seen rapid growth despite challenges in the broader e-commerce market.
