Intellimedia Networks Africa Eyeing Expansion into DRC

Kenyan firm Intellimedia Networks Africa has tapped DRC’s Matic Enterprises, to mark its foray into the regional market.

The firm whose headquarters is US-based, had in August announced plans to scale up its operations in the region after officially venturing into the Kenyan market as it eyes the wider African market.

Intellimedia’s Kenyan office will now partner with DRC’s Matic to extend fibre connectivity to the central African State.

This as it positions itself to capitalise on business opportunities across the continent.

DRC is emerging as a key African market for Kenyan firms with latest official annual data showing exports earnings from the country amounted to Sh14.3 billion in 2020 — only dwarfed by Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Egypt and South Sudan.

IntelliMedia Networks Africa spokesperson Alex Chesosi, said their entry into the DRC would substantially reduce the cost and deployment time associated with fiber optics.

New Oppotunities

“Kenya has emerged as a beacon of innovation and actionable business solutions, rapidly emerging as a hub that sets the pace for the entire continent. It’s this expertise that we will be tapping to empower millions of Congolese citizens by offering enhanced connectivity services,” said Chesosi.

IntelliMedia Networks Africa CEO Jane Nawezi, said that the firm is optimistic of a $3 million (Sh451 million) turnover within the next five years following their entry into the DRC market.

She cited both existing and emerging business opportunities as the driving force behind their ambitious financial forecast.

Alpha Eragy, CEO of Matic Enterprises, highlighted their focus on unlocking digital opportunities in the DRC, with a particular interest in serving parastatals and corporate clients.

In its debut in the African market the firm had begun training its inaugural group of trainees in Kenya in August, who will be instrumental in deploying the firm connectivity solutions in Kenya and the region.
