Samsung Launches AI-Powered Galaxy A27 5G in Kenya

Samsung Electronics has launched the Galaxy A27 5G in Kenya, introducing an affordable smartphone that brings enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools, a faster processor and extended software support to users seeking premium features at a mid-range price.

The new device builds on the Galaxy A26 5G with a larger 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, slimmer bezels and a punch-hole Infinity-O design aimed at delivering a more immersive viewing experience for streaming, gaming and everyday use.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, the Galaxy A27 5G offers improved performance for multitasking, gaming and faster data transfers while delivering better power efficiency.

Samsung has also upgraded the front camera to 12 megapixels, enabling users to capture brighter and more natural-looking selfies across different lighting conditions.

A key highlight of the smartphone is the expansion of Samsung’s “Awesome Intelligence” suite, bringing more AI-powered tools to mainstream users.

The device’s Circle to Search with Google now supports multi-object recognition, allowing users to search for several items within an image simultaneously. The feature also enables users to virtually try on outfits directly from search results.

Samsung has also enhanced its Object Eraser tool to deliver cleaner photo edits by removing unwanted objects more naturally.

For productivity, the Voice Recorder app now supports AI-powered transcription and translation in 22 languages, enabling users to convert spoken conversations into translated text during meetings and interviews.

The Galaxy A27 5G also gives users the flexibility to choose between multiple AI assistants, including Google Gemini, Perplexity and Samsung’s Bixby, with deeper integration across native Galaxy applications such as Gallery for quicker interactions.

In addition to new AI capabilities, Samsung is extending software longevity for the device by offering up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades alongside six years of security updates.

The company said the smartphone is protected by Samsung Knox and Knox Vault, providing hardware-backed security for sensitive user data.

The Galaxy A27 5G is available in Black, Blue, Light Green and Light Pink through Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Shop-in-Shops and authorized retailers across Kenya.

The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant retails at Sh41,300, while the 8GB RAM and 256GB model is priced at Sh52,500.

The launch reflects Samsung’s strategy of bringing AI features previously reserved for flagship smartphones to more affordable devices as competition in Kenya’s mid-range smartphone market intensifies.
