Samsung Electronics East Africa has opened a new smartphone retail outlet at City Gate Mall in Kitui, expanding its reach to consumers and businesses in the lower Eastern region as demand for digital technology grows.

The new Shop-in-Shop (SIS), established in partnership with Maureen Mutua and Mutua Ndungi, provides a dedicated space for customers to explore Samsung’s smartphone range, learn about device features and receive assistance in choosing products suited to their needs.

The opening extends Samsung’s retail presence beyond major urban centres, targeting consumers in a region where traders, entrepreneurs and small businesses increasingly rely on digital tools for communication, marketing and daily operations.

Brenda Nakhulo Khaimia, Marketing Manager for the Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Electronics East Africa, said the expansion was driven by the need to bring the company’s products closer to consumers in different markets.

“Kenya’s markets are diverse, and our retail strategy must reflect the needs of the consumers we serve. Kitui is an important market within the region, and establishing a Samsung SIS here allows us to engage more directly with consumers and understand what matters to them,” she said.

Khaimia added that the company wanted more Kenyans to experience its technology first-hand and discover how its devices could support their personal and professional ambitions.

The new outlet comes as smartphones become increasingly important to Kenya’s digital economy, enabling businesses to promote products, communicate with customers and manage daily activities while helping individuals access information and digital services.

Kitui town serves as a commercial centre for the county, whose economy is supported by agriculture, trade and small-scale enterprises. For businesses operating in these sectors, smartphones provide tools for reaching customers, coordinating transactions and accessing online markets.

Through the new outlet, consumers will be able to compare devices and learn about the features available across Samsung’s smartphone portfolio before making purchasing decisions.

The opening forms part of Samsung’s broader effort to expand its retail network in Kenya, bringing its products and customer engagement services closer to consumers in more regional markets.
