LG Expands Built-In Appliance Portfolio in Kenya
LG Electronics is expanding its built-in appliance portfolio in Kenya with the introduction of its 2026 lineup of ovens, hoods and hobs, as rising investment in modern homes drives demand for integrated kitchen solutions.
The country’s household cooking appliances market is projected to record USD 19.1 million (KES2.5 b) in incremental gains between 2026 and 2031, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.69 percent over the period.
The broader household appliance market is meanwhile projected to increase from approximately USD 49 million (KES6.3B) in 2025 to more than USD 73 million (KES9.5 b) by 2029, reflecting rising consumer investment in modern and premium home solutions.
The new LG range, which will begin arriving in the country from October 2026, is designed to meet the needs of modern Kenyan homeowners who are increasingly looking for solutions that combine functionality, space optimization and contemporary design.
This shift is being reinforced by wider changes in Kenya’s housing and consumer landscape. More than 75 percent of Kenyan households now have access to electricity, creating a larger addressable market for modern household appliances. At the same time, continued urbanization, rising disposable incomes and growing exposure to international home-design trends are influencing how consumers design and equip their homes.
“Kenyan consumers are increasingly looking at the kitchen as an extension of their lifestyle and personal expression, rather than simply a place to prepare food,” said Eric Otieno, the Product Manager – Home Appliances (Future Products) at LG East Africa.
“Our 2026 built-in range responds to this shift by providing more choice in creating spaces that combine design and functionality. We are expanding the portfolio across different price points while also introducing larger-capacity and premium solutions for customers with more specialized requirements.”
Central to the new lineup is the LG 90cm Digital Oven, which features a substantial 96-litre capacity. LG will also introduce new hood solutions that can blend discreetly into the surrounding cabinetry, in addition to Premium Glass Ceramic Gas Hobs that complement the company’s existing stainless-steel gas hobs.
The shift towards built-in appliances reflects a broader transformation in how Kenyan homeowners and developers approach kitchen design. The modern kitchen is increasingly becoming the heart of the home, a space for cooking, entertaining, family interaction and everyday living. As a result, consumers are placing greater emphasis on customized layouts, premium finishes, enhanced storage, space optimization and appliances that integrate naturally into the surrounding environment.
For developers, built-in appliances are also increasingly being used as a value proposition in premium residential projects. Integrated appliances can help create a more cohesive interior while potentially enhancing the perceived value and appeal of a property.
“The trend is particularly evident in urban residential developments, where space efficiency is increasingly important. Integrating appliances into cabinetry can help maximize available kitchen space while reducing visual clutter and creating a more streamlined environment,” concluded Otieno.
