Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has brought East African Breweries PLC (EABL) on board in a fresh campaign to put Kenyan culture, music, cuisine and heritage at the centre of the country’s tourism offering.

The partnership seeks to give Magical Kenya a cultural edge by blending the country’s celebrated wildlife and natural attractions with authentic experiences drawn from its diverse communities and traditions.

Miano announced the initiative after hosting an EABL delegation led by Group Marketing and Innovations Director Anne-Joy Michira.

Dubbed “A Toast to Our Culture Campaign,” the initiative will leverage EABL’s private-sector reach to showcase Kenya’s traditions, food, music and lifestyle under the ministry’s “Explore Wonder” campaign.

Miano said the partnership would give both domestic and international visitors a richer experience while creating opportunities to link cultural attractions with national parks and game reserves.

“Kenya’s extraordinary cultural diversity, our world-renowned music, culinary traditions and vibrant lifestyle will take centre stage to create richer, more immersive itineraries for both domestic and international visitors,” Miano said.

Under the initiative, cultural experiences will be integrated into tourism circuits, allowing domestic travellers to access curated experiences around parks and other attractions while international visitors can combine wildlife adventures with Kenya’s diverse heritage.

The CS said the approach would help diversify Kenya’s tourism products and encourage visitors to explore destinations beyond the traditional tourist hotspots.

For Miano, Kenya’s competitive advantage lies not only in its wildlife and beaches but also in the richness of its people, traditions, cuisine and contemporary lifestyle.

She said partnerships with the private sector were critical to taking the country’s tourism story to new audiences and creating fresh demand for domestic and international travel.

Conservation will also form a key pillar of the partnership, with Miano stressing that tourism growth must go hand in hand with protection of Kenya’s natural heritage.

“Conservation advocacy is embedded into every pillar of this partnership, ensuring that every event, drive and campaign element directly champions environmental stewardship and wildlife protection,” she said.

The initiative comes as Kenya intensifies efforts to grow tourist arrivals and deepen public-private partnerships in pursuit of the five-million-arrivals target.

Miano said innovative collaborations would be essential in broadening Kenya’s tourism appeal while strengthening domestic tourism and opening up new experiences for travellers.

She said the country was well placed to offer visitors a combination of wildlife, culture, cuisine and authentic experiences that few destinations can match.

“Magical Kenya is ready to showcase its wonder and celebrate our heritage while safeguarding our natural legacy,” Miano said.

The partnership with EABL marks a renewed effort to make culture a central pillar of Kenya’s tourism proposition, with Miano betting on the combination of heritage, wildlife and conservation to give travellers more reasons to choose Kenya.

The campaign is also expected to strengthen the connection between tourism and the creative and cultural economy, while giving Kenyans more opportunities to experience and celebrate the country’s diverse heritage.
