Electric mobility company Roam, has partnered with Greenspoon, an online retailer specializing in organic food, to launch a sustainable food delivery service.
The collaboration is part of GreenspoonGo, Greenspoon’s rapid delivery service that began in February 2023.
The partnership is the latest in the food delivery space where companies are leveraging data analytics, AI, and mobile apps to enhance customer experiences, optimize delivery routes, and offer personalised recommendations.
The new service utilises the Roam Air electric motorcycle, where each bike will handle up to 15 customer orders daily.
“Our partnership represents a shared commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable planet. By leveraging the latest in electric motorcycle technology, our partnership is helping to reduce carbon emissions and provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional delivery services,” said Roam’s Sales Operations Manager commented, Dionne Getata.
According to the e mobility firm, this partnership is expected to significantly reduce delivery times, with orders now arriving in under 99 minutes, compared to the previous delivery time of up to 3 hours.
Greenspoon aims to serve more customers through this initiative, building on its current customer base of over 3,500.
The removable dual battery system allows for easy charging at any power outlet, including Greenspoon’s warehouse.
With three batteries per Roam Air, each motorcycle can cover over 225 km, enabling riders to complete up to 195 orders daily.
With zero emissions and the capacity to carry up to 220 kg, Greenspoon operations manager Elijah Karanja, said that the deal aligns with the firm’s push towards net zero
This partnership highlights a joint effort to provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional delivery services in Kenya.
Kenya’s food delivery sector is experiencing rapid growth, driven by increasing demand for convenience and the rise of technology-driven services.
