Pan Africa Network Group (PANG) is revolutionizing Kenya’s broadcasting industry by transitioning its signal distribution sites to solar compatible Infrastructure, a move that is set to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in digital broadcasting.
Speaking on the milestone, Pan Africa Network Group General manager, Miss Tamima Ibrahim, hailed the initiative as a groundbreaking step not only in the energy sector but also in environmental conservation.
“By harnessing solar power, we are not only ensuring uninterrupted signal transmission but also embracing a more sustainable future for the broadcasting industry. This investment is a game-changer, offering viewers consistent, high-quality digital content while promoting environmental responsibility,” she said.
PANG has already transitioned five key sites—Machakos, Murang’a, Migori, Nanyuki, and Nyahururu—to solar power, with plans to convert more than half of its remaining sites by the end of the year.
The initiative is expected to reduce reliance on the national grid while significantly cutting operational costs. Miss Tamima further emphasized that each upgraded site boasts a loading capacity of over 5KW, ensuring stable, seamless broadcasting transmission.
“This shift not only guarantees fewer disruptions but also enhances the overall viewing experience, making digital TV more accessible and reliable across the country,” she added.
