Siaya Ignites Kenya’s Digital Future: Skills, Creativity and Opportunity Take Centre Stage

Siaya County came alive with energy, ideas, and ambition as leaders, innovators, creators, and young people gathered for the Digital Skilling & Jobs Summit – Siaya Edition, highlighting the transformative power of the digital economy.

The summit, graced by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, underscored a clear message: Kenya’s future economy is digital, and the youth are at the centre of it.

Held under the theme “Empowering Siaya’s Future: Digital Connectivity, Skills, Jobs and Creative Economy for Sustainable Growth,” the summit explored how initiatives such as the Digital Superhighway, Jitume Digital Programme, and community digital hubs are expanding digital skills, opportunities, and innovation across the country.

Speaking during the summit, President William Ruto noted:

“Digital infrastructure and skills are the foundation of the jobs of the future. Through initiatives such as the Digital Superhighway and community digital hubs, we are ensuring that young people across every county can access opportunities in the digital economy.”

Siaya County Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga also highlighted the importance of investing in digital skills to empower young people and unlock opportunities in the modern economy.

The summit brought together leaders including Cabinet Secretary Hon. William Kabogo, Principal Secretary Eng. John Tanui, Senate ICT Committee Chairperson Sen. Allan Chesang, National Assembly ICT Committee Chairperson Hon. John Kiarie, Konza Technopolis CEO John Paul Okwiri, ICT Authority CEO Jessy Kiveu Maruti, alongside Members of Parliament, MCAs, and ecosystem partners committed to advancing Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.
