OPPO Kenya, MOGO to Roll Out Flexible Smartphone Financing Nationwide

OPPO Kenya has announced a new partnership with MOGO Kenya aimed at expanding access to smartphones through flexible “lipa mdogo mdogo” financing plans.

The deal is expected to accelerate digital inclusion by making it easier for Kenyans to acquire OPPO devices without the burden of a large upfront payment.

The initiative targets millions of price-sensitive and underserved consumers who rely on smartphones for communication, business, education, and content creation.

By integrating MOGO’s mobile financing model into OPPO’s retail network, customers across the country can now walk into participating stores and access structured installment payment plans tailored to their income patterns.

According to industry data, Kenya is home to more than 42 million smartphone users, a number that continues to rise. However, affordability challenges persist as device prices increase.

OPPO and MOGO say the financing partnership directly addresses this gap by offering more accessible ownership options.

The collaboration aligns with three core goals: driving digital inclusion, democratizing OPPO technology, and advancing a shared commitment to innovation and technology empowerment.

OPPO also expects the move to strengthen its retail ecosystem by boosting store visits, improving conversion rates, and building deeper relationships with customers seeking flexible payment solutions.

Fredrique Achieng, PR Manager at OPPO Kenya, said the partnership reflects the company’s broader mission of expanding digital access:

“At OPPO Kenya, our mission goes beyond delivering innovative devices; we are committed to ensuring that more Kenyans can access and benefit from the opportunities that digital connectivity provides. Partnering with MOGO allows us to remove affordability barriers and extend the reach of OPPO technology to customers who may otherwise delay or forgo smartphone ownership.”

Fred Muoka, Head of Sales – Device Financing at MOGO Kenya, emphasized the economic significance of the initiative:

“Smartphones have become essential tools for everyday business in Kenya… Yet affordability remains a major barrier, especially as device prices have risen in recent years. Through our partnership with OPPO, we are making quality smartphones more accessible and supporting greater economic participation across the country.”

The partnership takes effect immediately, with financing options available across OPPO’s participating retail outlets nationwide.
