Infinix NOTE Edge Debuts in Kenya, With World-First Dimensity 7100 5G Smartphone

Infinix NOTE Edge has officially been launched in Kenya, giving the country a first look at a smartphone that also marks a global industry milestone.

The device is the world’s first to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G platform and ships with the newly released Android 16 paired with XOS 16, underscoring Kenya’s growing relevance as a launch market for next-generation mobile technology.

The NOTE Edge represents a strategic shift in smartphone design philosophy, with Infinix prioritising long-term reliability, intelligent performance and battery longevity over short-lived performance spikes.

The company says the approach is in response to changing consumer behaviour, where smartphones are increasingly relied upon as essential tools for work, creativity and everyday digital life.

Built around Infinix’s new “Dream Booster” concept, the NOTE Edge is designed to support constant connectivity and productivity without compromise.

It combines a premium curved display, advanced AI-driven features and 5G connectivity in a slim 7.2mm body, weighing just 185 grams. Despite its lightweight form factor, the device houses one of the largest batteries Infinix has introduced in the Kenyan market.

At the core of the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, making its first commercial appearance worldwide.

Unlike processors tuned for short bursts of peak power, the Dimensity 7100 focuses on sustained efficiency, enabling smooth gaming, streaming and multitasking while keeping energy consumption low. This design targets users who spend long hours on their phones and need consistent performance throughout the day.

A key highlight of the NOTE Edge is its 6,150mAh self-healing battery, the largest battery capacity Infinix has launched in Kenya.

The battery system actively repairs micro-damage during charging cycles, allowing it to retain more than 80 per cent capacity after up to 2,000 full charge cycles.

According to Infinix, this translates to as much as six years of everyday use, significantly extending the device’s lifespan. In practical terms, the battery supports up to 25.4 hours of continuous Google Maps navigation or 20.9 hours of YouTube playback.

On the software side, the NOTE Edge runs Android 16 with XOS 16, introducing AI-powered features designed to simplify daily tasks, enhance content creation and improve system performance.

The interface includes Glow Space natural light elements for a lighter, immersive visual experience, while Perception Scheduling 3.0 optimises system resources for smoother operation.

The device comes with up to 8GB of RAM, expandable to 16GB via MemFusion, enabling lag-free multitasking across office apps, social platforms and media consumption.

Infinix has also placed emphasis on long-term software support, committing to three major Android-based XOS upgrades and five years of security updates. This move aligns with growing consumer concerns around device longevity, digital safety and sustained usability.

Adding a human-interest dimension to the launch, Infinix is highlighting the journey of Sabrina Simader, Kenya’s first female Winter Olympian.

Simader is set to return to the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina 2026, documenting her experience using the NOTE Edge. Her story, according to the company, reflects themes of resilience and possibility, and will later be expanded into a standalone feature exploring how technology supports ambitious pursuits across new frontiers.

Commenting on the launch, Mia Huang, Marketing Manager, Infinix Kenya said the company is responding to a growing demand for smartphones that deliver long-term value rather than short-term performance peaks.

“Kenyan consumers are increasingly focused on reliability, battery endurance and how long their phones remain secure and useful. The NOTE Edge reflects this shift, combining world-first technology with intelligent features that truly support everyday life,” said Mia Huang.

“Kenyan consumers are increasingly focused on reliability, battery endurance and how long their phones remain secure and useful. The NOTE Edge brings world-first technology together with intelligent features that support everyday life.”

Priced from KES 32,999, the Infinix NOTE Edge is now available at authorised retail outlets across Kenya, positioning itself as a competitively priced 5G smartphone that blends AI innovation, long-term software support and industry-leading battery technology.
